These last few years the world has experienced quite a few unexpected events which are changing humanity in a constant race of futuristic evolution… The fall of Osama Bin Laden, Brexit, the Paris Global Climate Change agreement, Tesla and its electrical cars, the rise of blockchain and cryptocurrency, and the most devastating pandemic of our time, the infamous COVID-19 have passed through our lives with one purpose…. Change the way we live forever, imposing an inevitable transition to our day-to-day “new normal”.

As part of this wave of new breakthroughs, technology is always at the point of the spear when it comes to creating more effective and adaptable ways to materialize any task we perform, doesn’t matter if it’s as small as scheduling your alarm via voice to text through Alexa or as big as creating algorithms for a digital decentralized coin which you can’t touch but you can profit from and also purchase whatever you want. Within this technological stampede, Unmanned Aerial Systems, or as we commonly know them, “drones” are being used in so many new ways which help our lives to become easier, safer, more effective and fun.

In the last 5 years, the implementation of drones in so many different tasks has grown incredibly and at an astonishing pace. Cinematographic productions with aerial shots which were done by helicopters brought big fuel costs, took time to round up all permits necessary to fly in the location required, huge risk assessment preflight plans had to be made, and above all, the cost for these operations was very high. The use of drones with payloads has helped us acquire footage faster and safer. It’s easier to plan and obtain government permits, reduce fuel costs, obtain more effective risk mitigation and save the most valuable commodity of all: Time!

With construction companies having to present OAC meeting reports internally and to their investors, drones offer the possibility of supplying a significant amount of data like progressive project site footage, stockpile reports, Infrared inspections, Photogrammetry (Mapping), and virtual scans to name a few. Which allows a detailed analysis; preventing accidents, managing more effective schedules, and saving money. Sustainable energy solutions like eolic windmills and solar panels must be inspected regularly with cranes and lifts, skilled manpower, and very specific safety measures taking weeks to plan and even more time to execute. Drones have been implemented in this field reducing coordination efforts, safety hazards, reduced budget, and significant schedule effectiveness allowing energy companies to redistribute efforts and effectiveness in expansion and new sustainable solutions.

Healthcare has been taking a huge advantage out of drones by saving lives all around the world. Tech company Zipline has implemented blood and medical supply delivery in rural areas of Rwanda, Nevada-based startup Flirtey successfully executed medical supply delivery tests shore-to-ship and back. UAV company MissionGO along with Lifesource OPO and Mercy Hospital transported the first Pancreas with a drone on a 10-mile path over the Mississippi river last month! Swedish company Everdrone has created access to emergency medical deliveries of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) by drones which reduce ambulance response time by 4x reducing the amount of population death rate by cardiac arrest.

Market leaders like Amazon, Prime Air, Alphabet’s UAV division: WING, UPS, and quite a few others who have requested BVLOS (Beyond visual line of sight) Waivers, have been approved by the FAA last year and it’s just a matter of time before we start receiving our packages with drones.

Drone light shows have been illuminating the skies at night all over the world with complex UTM softwares by companies like INTEL, the EFYI group, BILIBILI, and quite a few others who have jumped into the race to create magical shows in the sky full of creativity and technology!

Flying cars have been a SCI-FI dream for years, but now drones will make it come true in the very near future! Japanese company Skydrive backed by Toyota group has been working hard and fast to put commercial flying drones/cars by 2023!

In a nutshell, drones are here to change how the world works in a more effective and efficient way without taking jobs from us but changing the way we work in a safer way. That future we all saw in movies is here to stay to make our lives better! With drones!!!
